Description
Corman Kokosing Construction has an opening for Pile Drivers for our for project locations in Northern VA and Maryland.

SUMMARY 
Operates pile drivers mounted on skids, barges, crawler treads, or cranes to drive pilings for retaining walls, bulkheads, and foundations of structures such as bridges and piers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Skilled in use of necessary hand and power tools;

Conducts pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning;

Cleans, lubricates, and refills equipment;

Drives pilings to provide support for structures such as bridges, using heavy equipment with a pile driver head;

Moves hand and foot levers of hoisting equipment to position piling leads, hoist piling into leads, and position hammers over pilings;

Moves levers and turns valves to activate power hammers, or to raise and lower drop hammers that drive pile to required depths.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in marine pile driving operations including Concrete pile, H-pile, and Pipe pile.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Understand English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as area, read rule, calculate measurements. Ability to apply concepts of geometry. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.

The employee must occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is very loud. The employee must regularly work or walk on uneven ground on onboard floating equipment.  Access and egress to barges, boats and piers requires ability to do so from moving surfaces due to water motion.
