SUMMARY 
Heavy Equipment Mechanic in examining, locating, and repairing mechanical defects in a wide variety of automotive, road and construction equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment failures.
• Repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline engines.
• Parts replacement, repair of vehicles, industrial machinery, and electrical and electronic equipment.
• Adjusting and repairing ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic and steering systems.
• Maintaining and repairing chassis, frames and bodies.
• Working with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges and meters.
• Lubricating equipment. 
• Maintaining and repairing tires, batteries, brakes and valves. 
• Performing shop management functions such as maintenance scheduling and spare parts and inventory control.
• Keep work area clean and orderly.
• Must have his own tools to perform work.
• Ability to understand and follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge and ability to Burn & Weld.
• Ability to repair and service Cranes.
• Ability to run a service truck.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 
Ten years of experience in maintenance and repair of trucks and heavy equipment.  

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
Speak and understand English; 
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  

REASONING ABILITY 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 
Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate (a.k.a. DOT Medical Card)
