Summary:

Assists safety director, site safety engineers and project teams in the development of company and site specific EHS policies and programs designed to reduce the risk of unsafe acts and trends in the field operations. Fosters the development of a Safety Culture as a core value of the organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

    Develops, implements, and evaluates safety programs and procedures to ensure personnel and facility safety at the jobsite level.

 

    Assists in developing the project site specific safety programs at project startup; conducts job hazard analyses with the project teams throughout all phases of the project.

  • Develop and implement site specific Emergency Action Plans for the projects
  • Attend weekly client and project team meetings to address safety issues trending on the specific project
  • Attend quarterly client meetings to present Lessons Learned data on incidents that may have occurred during last quarter.
  • Prepare Supervisor Incident reports and/or review site Safety Engineers’ incident reports for accuracy and validity of report. Investigate all incidents with project team.

    Implements Predictive Solutions safety auditing system to track, report and evaluate workers unsafe and safe trends to help improve compliance. Manage incident data, property and GL claims data through Predictive Solutions track system.  

 

    Notifies Safety Director and Project Manager immediately when an incident occurs involving personnel, equipment or property.

 

    Investigates incidents with the site Safety Engineer/project team to ensure corrective action are developed and implemented to prevent recurrence. Follow up on employee post incident drug screening with Human Resources.

 

    Assist the project teams to get an employee in need of medical attention to medical facilities; manage return to work program, including monitoring status of injured employee, return to work status, follow- up visits, etc. Work closely on Return to Work incidents with Safety Director and Human Resources.

 

    Conduct Company and regulatory compliance training as an OSHA 500/502 instructor.

 

    Examines equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included.

 

    Observes and evaluates human behavior while working with and around machinery and equipment to identify hazards and mitigations. Help project teams develop Job Hazard Analysis to reduce incidents.

 

    Conducts safety audits of construction site to ensure compliance with company, client and safety regulatory requirements, identify and correct potential hazards, inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities.

 

    Assist site Safety Engineer to determine and enforce requirements for personal protective equipment, life safety devices and assists site Safety Engineer in the direct installation of safety devices on jobsite.

 

    Conduct First Aid/CPR training with project teams so project are prepared to provide basic responder assistance when needed.

 

    Assists site Safety Engineer or conducts air quality tests for presence of harmful gases or vapors associated with confined space work.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for coordinating and evaluating jobsite safety in conjunction with site safety engineer or project team staff. Directly supervises employees with regards to safety regulations and requirements on various job sites or a single job site. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Companys safety policies and applicable OSHA and state regulations.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree (B.S.) from four year college or university; or minimum 5 to 10 years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, clearly and grammaticallyAbility to create written safety policy and procedure manuals, and presentations (PowerPoint). Ability to conduct presentations and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Company.

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations and in situations where limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CSP or CHST is required

OSHA 500 / 501 – 10 and 30 Hour Outreach Instructor

CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification

Competent Level trainer in: Fall Protection, Cranes, Rigging/Signaling and Excavation

Certified Flagger Instructor Traffic Control Certification

Certified Trainer: Rigging, Excavation/Trenching, Scaffolding, Fall Protection, Confined Space

Hazmat Certification

First Aid/CPR trainer
